Tivoli
In May 29. 1843 Georg Carstensen recieved a five year-lease by “The Royal Resolution” to establish a summer Tivoli.
Georg Carstensen won the lease because he was the only one to accept the limitation of a lease for five years.
A rumour said, that the reason why it really was decided im favour of Carstensen, was that he had had an audience of the king, and is reported to have said, that when people are kept amused they forget their politics.
In August 15. 1843 the entrance to Tivoli was opened for the amusement of the people, just outside Vesterport.
It was mostly the music and pantomime that had people interest, but also the Steam Carrousel amused the public, grown-ups as well as children.
