“The Rider statue”
The Rider statue shows King Frederik VII on horseback, and it stands in Christiansborg palace square, Copenhagen. The statue is from 1865 and it is made out of bronze and granite.
When H.C. Andersen first came to Copenhagen in 1819, there was still an absolute government. Not until July 5th 1849 was the constitution introduced and the absolute government repealed. That was a year after King Frederik VII had become a king.
