The “Three-Year-War” The “Three-Year-War”, between Denmark and Slesvig-Holsten, started because of political quarrels. Slesvig-Holsten was two small principality’s, there was under the Danish kingdom. The two principality’s wanted to be secede from Denmark, so they could become members of the German federation. When Denmark got a new government, who had the political idea, that Slesvig-Holsten should be more Danish, was a revolt raised in the principality’s. The war was started. Slesvig-Holsten got support from small principality’s in the middle Europe, and from Preussen. In three years Denmark fighted some bloody settlements against Slesvig-Holsten. The Germans was many times close to be in charge, but Denmark got out of trouble with help from Russia, who lay a big pressure on Preussen. The war ended in 1851, where the Slesvig-Holsten’s army was disband, after a Russian pressure. Later, in 1864 Denmark lost Slesvig-Holsten to Austria-Preussen. |
