Analysis of/auf "I Danmark er jeg født" and/und "Der er et yndigt land"

Tekstboks: English summary In these two songs, the authors make a big deal out of expressing their feelings for their country. Both songs contain some generally common features, for example a national feeling for their country, the national pride, the Vikings, and furthermore our defeat. The national feelings are expressed through the Dannebrog (the eldest flag) the beech tree (our national tree) and beaches and coasts (because Denmark is surrounded by the sea). In addition they mention a defeat. And considering the time of the creation of the songs they probably relate to England’s bombardment of Denmark (the capital of Denmark), which was a shock; just think that invading strangers could enter so easily. The reason why it was so difficult to understand is probably that England bombed to pieces gates, buildings as well as ships and harbour. But also because we couldn’t do anything to prevent it. So we had to look back and remember our great forefathers, the Vikings, who ruled the entire Scandinavia – including England. Deutsh Referat Diese zwei Lieder haben viel gemeinsam, zum Beispiel handeln sie beide über nationale Gefühle, unsere starken Vorfahren, die Wikinger (und nicht zu vergessen, auch unseren Stolz) und zuletzt die Niederlage Dänemarks zu England. Die Nationalgefühle sind ausdrückt durch Dannebrog (die älteste Flagge), die Buche (der nationale Baum) und Strände und Küste. Außerdem wird eine Niederlag genannt, und Wegen des Alters referiert zu dem englischen Bombardement auf Dänemark (die Haupstadt), das im Schock war, weil die Dänen nicht glaubten, das fremde Eindringlinge trotz der Wälle eindringen konnten. Darum ist es schwer für Dänemark über die Demütigung zu kommen, weil England beide Häfen, Schiffe und viele Gebäude gebombt hatte. Aber die Kopenhagener konnten es nicht verhindern. Deshalb müssen wir uns an unsere Vorfahren erinnern.
