Room |
In the beginning of the 19th century, it was very common that you did
not own your house, but you rented it. A normal family often lived in a
house with only one or two rooms, depending on how mush money they had.
Many people were poor back in the 19th century, so furnishing was not the
first thing to spend money on, normally the rooms were furnished with a
lot of beds, and maybe a table.
In the richer part of the society, people got bigger houses, and more
money for furnishing. They had a lot of things hanging on the walls, like
paintings, especially in the kitchen and the living room. In the beginning
of the 19th century, the fashion colours changed, from very bright colours,
into darker and stronger colours. |
